  • 9 Confidence-Boosting Habits of Highly Confident People

How many times has a failed attempt at a project, a ‘love letter’ (rejection) email from your dream organization, a negative review from a client, or even a low assessment from an employee deflated your spirit and confidence like a car tyre punched out of shape? Even outside of these, there’s the never-ceasing inner voice of doubt within everyone constantly reminding one of her inadequacies.

No doubt situations like this will always arise. That inner voice of self-doubt will always be there – it is in everyone, including those that you think are full of confidence in every way. In reality, no one is born with limitless confidence. So, what is the catch? What habits do confident people have that boosts their confidence? Here are the top 9 habits;

1 – Visualize and Think Positivity

The way you see and think about yourself can make a huge difference to your confidence levels. Rather than see or think so lowly of yourself, make a point of seeing yourself in a positive light.

Believe in yourself! ave faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers, you cannot be successful or happy.

2 – Never Compare Yourself to Others

It’s a natural human tendency to compare ourselves to others. While this can be a source of motivation in the best of times, it can also do great harm to your self-esteem. So, when you catch yourself sinking deep into the habit of comparing yourself to a particular individual, remember that you are your own unique individual – Own it! Do not copy! An original is worth more than a copy.

3 – Associate With Positive People

You need a lot of optimistic individuals around you for moral support on this journey. It is really simple: If you keep listening or associating with naysayers, chances are that you will hit the rock sooner than later.

4 – Keep a Tab on Your Progress

Keep a record of all your achievements. Get a diary and write down your successes – including the little ones. Write up your most important ones on stick-it notes and paste in the areas of your house where you request daily. When the tough days come – and surely, they will, these records will boost your confidence to keep trying.

5 – Affirm Positivity

It is one thing to think and visualize positivity and another thing to affirm positivity. Those tiny voices of negativity within you should be kept buried. Practice positive self-talk daily. When assailed with situations that threaten your self-confidence, you need to take charge of building it up. The inner voice of self-doubt goes dimmer when you practice positive self-talk.

If you want to change your life, begin by changing your words. Start speaking the words of your dreams, of who you want to become, not the words of fear and failure.

-Robert Kiyosaki

6 – Face your Fears Squarely

The easiest way to boost your confidence is by facing your fears squarely and daily. Set daily goals that allows you to face your fears head-on and get one step closer to the ultimate goal. If you lack confidence about public speaking but know that you need it to excel in your career, then set a goal to talk to a number of persons each day; making sure that the number of persons increase with each passing day until you can speak comfortably to a crowd. . not put off till you are more confident! Each goal achieved builds a higher step in your confidence level.

7 – Invest in your Looks and Body

It can be hard to look or feel confident when you look like a rat dragged out of the gutters. That doesn’t mean that you should rob a bank, just so you can look good. Rather, you should make the most of what you have to look good.

The way we dress affects the way we think, the way we feel, the way we act, and the way others react to us.

~Judith Rasband

Moreover, investing in your looks and body is not just about the clothes you wear but also about how you care for your body. Eat, exercise, and sleep well – it will improve your looks and body much more than clothes. Indeed, looking good is always good for business.

8 – Go the Extra Mile

Let’s say you have a presentation to give and you have prepared fairly well for the average person. This should be enough, right? No! Go the extra mile in preparing for your presentation. Cover all backgrounds, including those you feel that you don’t need to. It is the extra preparation that distinguishes an extraordinary individual from an ordinary one. Moreover, being so knowledgable about your craft is a great confidence-booster.

9 – Watch Your Body Posture

What does it matter about your body posture when you have your craft down to your fingertips? The answer is: A LOT. You don’t want to be caught slouching over in a meeting nor be caught swaying and rocking as you give your presentation. Scientists have proven that nonverbal communication (body posture) communicates a lot (55%) more than spoken words (which only has a share of 7%) because they reflect our true emotions. Also, the type of posture you practice can have a good influence on your confidence level. So, by watching and practising good body postures at all times, you could be boosting your confidence level as well.
